We are going CO2 neutral!!! / Vamos neutralizar o CO2 deste site!

[EN] Did you know that website can produce up to 3,6 kg o CO2 in a year?

That’s right! But in order to prevent that, we are joining the “CO2 neutral blog” campaign, thanks to a partnership between Guiato and the tree planting programme of the Brazilian Forestry Institute (Instituto Brasileiro de Florestas – IBF), a native tree will be donated and planted on behalf of Change Mob in Brazil.

Our intention is to neutralized the CO2 emissions of our page, as well to support reforestation in the deforested area of Apucarana, Paraná (South of Brazil) through tree-planting of native species, which will contribute to restoration of Brazilian biodiversity.

The small virtual action of neutralizing our CO2 emissions represents only one more step towards the right direction for Change Mob. And it’s a reminder to all that protecting our environment, apart from being extremely crucial, is possible and in this case, not hard at all!

Aprovechamos para dejarles nuestro agradecimiento a  Ana Paula Rojas Gálvez (BIOUNALM – UNALM), Andrea Soledad Dávila Salcedo (ALFOTUR/RVAJ), Andrea Isabel Arzaba (GCCA), Diego Álvaro Koo Arenas (UNALM), Diego Alonso Padilla Huamán (BIOUNALM - UNALM), Eugenia Capalbo (Change Mob), Jerico Fiestas Flores (UP/Acción Sostenible), Rita Barbieri, Florencia Caminos y João Felipe Scarpelini (Change Mob).

Youth Movements getting together!

#ChangeMob had the incredible opportunity to join other 40 youth-led and youth serving organizations at the Youth Movements Summit in New York City, on February 16 and 17th.

YM-event-invite-final

TakingITGlobal convened this meeting with leading youth organizations from around the world in order to create alignment and insight across models of change in the youth engagement sector, to identify points of collaboration across our organizations and to map competencies within the ecosystem of youth movements to achieve greater collective impact.

The last two days have been guided by the question: What can we achieve collectively, through cooperation and collaboration, that we are prevented from doing as individual organizations?
And was an incredible opportunity to really think outside of box, and view the youth movements from a systems perspective to achieve greater impact.

Joao’s story on TEDxAmazon

Finally it’s published the english translation of TEDx Talk our founder Joao did at TEDxAmazon in November 2010.

If you don’t know about the TED Talks, you MUST take some time to check out www.ted.com and listen to some inspiring stories and ideas from great entrepreneurs/pioneers/thinkers/doers from around the world…

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. (Worth checking out TEDxJovem @ Ibira website: www.tedxjovemibira.com that happened last December 4th, co-organized by Joao as well!).

In his TEDxTalk, Joao explains a bit of his story and path.. and share the lessons learned about engaging young people.

João Felipe Scarpelini was born with a habit of saving the world. At age 13, he wrote his first social project. The adults didn’t taken him seriously, of course. Today at age 24, he is dedicated to take teens seriously.

The International Day of Universal Human Rights! – How to celebrate!?

Today (10th of December) is the International Day of Universal Human Rights! A day which was created to celebrate our global community, our common rights regardless of where you were born. Above all, today is a day that was meant to celebrate our diversity, because we would rest assure that regardless of our differences we are all have fundamental rights that should be protected and respected.

Unfortunately that has not being the case yet…

Unfortunately very little people are aware of the The Universal Human Rights Declaration, and the rights agreed upon. Very little people realize, those rights were meant to be about themselves. They fail to realize the Declaration is talking about their rights.

And because of that, on a daily basis, we see or hear about upsetting violations of a series of those rights.. what are we waiting to challenge that?!

If no one takes action, the Universal Human Rights Declaration is nothing but a bunch of words in a paper… we, the people of the world are the ones to make the Declaration a living document, reflected in the way we live our daily lives.

Lets celebrate today’s International Day of Universal Human Rights by educating ourselves more! Learning where the declaration came from, and what are those universal rights we are all beneficiaries of.

Lets not take those rights for granted… and lets no longer accept that those rights are ignored or disrespected… it’s time for us to celebrate our International Day of Universal Human Rights making our commitments matter.

Happy International Day of Universal Human Rights!
